Lucknow | Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission Vice-Chairperson Aparna Yadav on Thursday criticised the administration of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) after she was unable to meet the Vice-Chancellor during her visit to the campus in connection with the ongoing controversial case involving a resident doctor.
Aparna Yadav arrived at KGMU to seek details about the university’s actions and the safety of the woman complainant. However, she reportedly stood outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office for nearly ten minutes before being informed that the VC was unavailable for a meeting. No official interaction took place during her visit.

Expressing displeasure over the situation, Yadav said the matter involved serious allegations and required immediate institutional accountability. She questioned why senior university officials were not accessible, especially when a constitutional body such as the Women’s Commission was seeking clarification.
“The case concerns the dignity, safety and mental well-being of a woman. In such situations, the administration should be transparent and proactive,” she said, adding that she would seek a detailed report from KGMU authorities.
Yadav also stressed that the Women’s Commission was closely monitoring the developments and would ensure that the complainant receives full legal and psychological support. She warned that any negligence or delay by the university administration would be taken seriously.

The KGMU administration, meanwhile, maintained that internal committees were functioning as per established procedures and that action was being taken in accordance with rules. Officials said the matter was sensitive and under investigation, limiting public comments at this stage.
The case has drawn significant public attention in Lucknow, prompting scrutiny of institutional response mechanisms, especially in matters involving harassment, alleged coercion and campus safety.
Further action by the Women’s Commission is expected after the submission of reports from both the university and the local administration.
